Cypress House

New residence

This project, located in a beachside suburb of the Gold Coast, was designed for a young family and is located a short walk from the ocean. It reinterprets the traditional beach shack with an open, airy layout, achieved with economy as a priority. Although situated on a narrow site, the design takes maximum advantage of the northern aspect to provide ample light and ventilation to the home.

Views to the garden are framed from within, connecting the interior to the landscaping. The form is simple, using durable, common materials—fibro, concrete—selected for economy and alignment with the coastal context. It’s a functional home, tailored to family use and its setting.

This project was undertaken while at Knight Wilson.
